The new owners of a rebranded Co Tyrone restaurant say they want to put their own stamp on the popular Moy spot.

V, formerly known as Chapter V and pronounced as 'five', has been taken over by Ryan McKeag and Ian Hilland, chef and general manager at well-known Moira restaurant Clenaghan’s which closed its doors last month.

Award winning Chapter V had been run by husband and wife team Conor and Ellen McCabrey until a surprise announcement last year when the pair as it closed for a final time in July.

The revamped local favourite opened its doors again last weekend however, with McKeag and Hilland at the helm.

“I’ve been in hospitality for 16 years, Ian has been for 11 or 12 so we decided to go down and check it out and see what we thought,” Ryan told Belfast Live.

“It took us a few months to get us there but we’re now fully up and running.

“Whereas the previous restaurant was more fine dining, we want to cater for everyone. We don’t want to be pub grub and we don’t want to be fine dining.

“We’re calling it contemporary casual and hopefully everyone that comes through the doors, there will be something for them.”

A lengthy wine list will now be added to with a cocktail menu which Ryan hopes will cater for people out to enjoy a night out in the Co Tyrone town, which has become a hub recently for hospitality with several cafes, restaurants and bars opening there.

“It’s a great wee town, we have been in and out of a few of the local bars and cafes and they have all been very welcoming.

“A few of them have also been in for dinner already so it seems like a great town to be involved in.

“For our first week open it has been going well so far, everyone has been very complimentary about the food, the drink and the service so it’s all positive so far.”
