Love Island stars Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury have shocked fans with the unexpected announcement that they have split after five years together.

After meeting on the ITV2 dating series, Hague and Fury became fan favourites and went on to welcome a daughter, Bambi, in January 2023, getting engaged later that year.

Their fame has been based on their romance and family life, so fans were stunned by the news that they have broken up and will be wondering what their careers will look like now.

Here's everything we know so far about the former couple's relationship, break up, and plans for the future - as Fury has written a bombshell chapter about their split in his upcoming book autobiography Lightning Can Strike Twice: My Life as a Fury that hits shelves this week.

For those not familiar with the celebrity former couple, Hague and Fury rose to fame when they met on Love Island season four in 2019.

They had an instant connection and were expected to walk the final – but ended as runners-up to short-lived couple Amber Gill and Greg O'Shea at the last minute, which fans speculated was due to viewer assumptions that Hague and Fury would win.

While Stevenage-born Hague had not previously been in the public eye, Fury might have been a little familiar to boxing fans as Tyson Fury's younger brother although his own career was still in its early stages.

Hague moved into Fury's Manchester apartment just a few months after Love Island ended and they went on to buy a house together, welcome baby daughter Bambi in January 2023, and got engaged in July 2023.

But the influencer and boxer have not been without controversy - after being made PrettyLittleThing's creative director, Hague gave an interview to Steven Bartlett's podcast Diary of a CEO that angered many. She suggested people with a less fortunate upbringing than her only had themselves to blame if they weren't financially stable, memorably commenting: "We all have the same 24 hours in a day."

After Bambi's birth, Fury was criticised for leaving Hague alone getting to grips with being a mum just a few weeks in as he went away on a training camp. A couple of months later, he told Loose Women he had prioritised his boxing training over proposing to Hague, saying: "My plan was to do it a lot sooner but obviously being a boxer and being in a training camp you’ve got to completely shut yourself off and just focus on the fight. I can’t be going here there and everywhere proposing."

In November last year, Hague briefly removed her engagement ring after footage emerged of Fury partying in Abu Dhabi with Chris Brown and a group of unknown women.

Just five short years ago, Hague and Fury might have been unknowns before entering Love Island, but they went on to become some of the show's wealthiest contestants of all time.

They became hugely popular as influencers, interviewees and brand ambassadors, with Fury's boxing career picking up pace at the same time.

Other projects included appearing in Tyson Fury's Netflix documentary At Home with The Furys, and prior to their split, their net worth was estimated at a whopping £9m.

The announcement that they had split came as a bombshell on 14 August as Fury had been sharing social media posts that suggested all was normal just hours earlier.

Hague went first, sharing her statement on Instagram stories which read: "Never in a million years did I think I'd ever have to write this. After five years of being together I never imagined our story would end, especially not this way.

"I am extremely upset to announce that mine and Tommy's relationship has come to an end.

"I will forever be grateful for the most important thing to me now and always, my beautiful daughter. Without us there would be no her, she will always be my priority.

"I want to thank you all for the love you have shown us over the last five years. You have all been a part of our journey and I feel it's right to share this with you all. Whilst I attempt to navigate the coming days and weeks please kindly respect my privacy over this difficult time, I'll be back when it feels right. Molly-Mae x"

Shortly afterwards, Fury shared his own statement which went into less detail and read: "I am heartbroken to share that Molly and I have decided to end our relationship.

"The past 5 years have led to us having our beautiful baby girl, Bambi and I will be forever thankful to Molly for making me a dad. Bambi is our priority.

"Please respect our privacy, and our families privacy, as we navigate our way through this difficult time."

Since then, Hague has taken to social media to thank her fans for their support. "Thank you for being the best online friends I could’ve ever wished for," she said.

Fury followed suit as he too thanked people for their support. He wrote: "These last few weeks have been heartbreaking. The false allegations about me have been horrendous, thank you to everybody who has stood by me through this."

Fury has been forced to deny publicly that he cheated on Hague after rumours circulated on social media. The professional boxer is talking with his lawyers, according to his representative.

A spokesperson for Fury told Yahoo: "Tommy is horrified by the false allegations of cheating being circulated by the media and he’s consulting his lawyers."

Now Fury has written about their split in a chapter in his first autobiography Lightning Can Strike Twice: My Life as a Fury which went on sale on 10 October. The book delves into his life as a boxer, TV star and a father but now it also shares some insight into how he has been coping with his split from Hague.

In an interview promoting his book, Fury vowed to fight for their love. He told The Daily Mail: "It is proper love. Do I still love Molly? 100 per cent. I will love her until my final breath."

Writing about the split in his book, he shared: "The reality of separating from someone I love stole my appetite and my sleep and piled on the stress and anxiety in the time since it happened. While I have been at rock bottom personally, I've had to contend with the media onslaught."

He added: "Had you have told me I would have broken up with the love of my life and received a media battering, I would not have thought I could get through it. But here I am facing into the storm and getting out of bed every morning."

On the day of his book's publication, Fury appeared on This Morning where host Ben Shephard grilled him about the cheating allegations, which Fury dodged.

He said: "A lot of stuff has been put out there, the whole world has seen what we’ve been going through for the past few months, but yeah, I added a last chapter where I talked about all my feelings and how I felt during this time and to keep everybody up to date. It has been tough but you can read about it in there."

He added: "Me and Molly and Bambi are a family unit and we’re going to tackle this in private."

Shephard asked him whether he would like to get back together with Hague and he said: "Like I said, they are my family and I’ll love them till the day I die."

Everything had looked rosy for the couple as recently as five weeks ago, when Hague proudly shared photos from her sister Zoe's wedding where she was bridesmaid.

She, Fury and Bambi looked happier than ever in the photos which she captioned: "A weekend of love… also celebrating half a decade of me and you."

Then three weeks ago, Hague marked the anniversary of her own engagement with a video of the moment Fury proposed and wrote on Instagram: "One year ago today I was tricked into going on a fake brand trip on which the love of my life would ask me to marry him."

Back in May, she had posted a photo from her birthday relaxing at home with Fury and Bambi, writing: "The most chilled birthday ever at home with the people I love." Meanwhile, Fury had posted: "Happy 25th Birthday to my world, my rock, my everything. Me and you forever."

But not long after resharing her engagement video, influencer Hague went silent on social media for a couple of weeks, returning a week ago to post some solo photos where she claimed the break from posting had been "accidental".

However, a couple of days later as she showed a picture of herself posing in a suit, one eagle-eyed fan commented: "Where’s the ring."

Their YouTube posts also hinted at struggles recently as Hague shared she had been "emotional" as Fury had left her alone with Bambi while he recorded his audiobook.

She told followers: "He's done it now, and I'm so proud of him, because I know that was a really big deal to him, but I have been solo parenting pretty much the entire week.

"Actually I've been solo parenting for like, two weeks now, basically because Tommy's just been so busy."

However, in an Instagram Q and A in June Hague had told fans their wedding was likely to be in 2025 and said: "I think Bambi has made us closer. Any bickers we have are never actually about her! Parenting together, especially recently, has been amazing."

When Hague and Fury entered Love Island, they were unknown to the public - Hague was working as a lifeguard, while Fury, although Tyson Fury's brother, was still an amateur boxer himself.

They shot to fame on the show and have barely been out of the public eye since, amassing huge social media followings and regularly appearing in glossy magazine shoots about their lives.

But their fame has been based on their romance – so what will their careers look like going forward as single people?

Fury's boxing career has taken off since Love Island. He is now a professional boxer and has won high-profile fights against Jake Paul and KSI, so he is expected to continue concentrating on the sport.

Meanwhile, Hague is likely to continue her successful career as an influencer, with regular updates from fashion weeks, events such as Cannes, and red carpet events.

Although she stepped down as PrettyLittleThing's creative director last year, Hague jumped back into the fashion world in September just weeks after the break up with her new business Maebe which is an accessible luxury womenswear brand.

They have both said that parenting Bambi, who will turn two in January 2025, is their priority.

Hague and Fury quickly became reality TV's golden couple after meeting back in 2019, and shared many aspects of their lives together with fans on social media. These were the key moments from their five years together.

June 2019 – Fury entered Love Island and when Hague arrived as a Bombshell, they instantly hit it off, becoming the fan favourite couple. However, they finished as runners up to Amber Gill and Greg O'Shea, who had only been together for a couple of weeks and split shortly after the series ended.

September 2019 – Things moved fast for the couple once they were back in the UK as they moved in together in Manchester just a few months later.

October 2021 – Hague and Fury moved to a new Manchester apartment in 2020, but were the victims of a burglary a year later while they were away on holiday. They lost a huge £800,000 worth of belongings.

March 2022 – It was a new start for the couple in 2022 as they bought their dream home – but still scarred by their burglary experience, they said they would only share snippets of the interior with fans.

September 2022 – Three years after meeting, Hague and Fury shared the huge news that they were expecting their first child. Hague wrote: "I can’t wait for the adventures that we haven’t even dreamed of yet."

January 2023 – Hague and Fury became parents, welcoming their daughter who instantly hit headlines over the couple's choice of name - Bambi.

July 2023 – The dream romance continued with a family holiday to Ibiza, where Fury surprised Hague with a clifftop engagement as she held Bambi. The couple had not announced any wedding plans over the last year.

November 2023 – Reports of trouble emerged as Fury was caught on camera partying in Abu Dhabi with Chris Brown and a group of women. Hague took off her engagement ring, but was wearing it again by the end of the year and the couple enjoyed holidays with Bambi in 2024 including skiing and Disneyland.
