Mom Performs 'Taps' on Trumpet as Daughters Fly Flags for Memorial Day

Footage of a South Carolina mom’s special Memorial Day performance with her daughters has racked up over 10 million views after being posted ahead of the holiday on May 29.

The video, filmed by Jeffrey Handel, shows the patriotic display on the front porch of his Charleston home, and features his wife Cameron playing Taps on the trumpet as their two daughters each hold up an American flag.

Handel told Storyful that the video was shot over Memorial Day Weekend in 2020, during a COVID-19 lockdown. It went viral thanks to a repost by KTUL on Facebook.

“There was an online push to have all trumpet players go outside and play taps from their homes at 3:00 that day. Our girls joined her for the performance,” Handel said. Credit: Jeffrey Handel via Storyful
