A Texas mother is currently behind bars after she allegedly tried to sell her 8-year-old daughter for sex, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Carrie Sue Kelly, 44, was arrested on June 12 after a six-month-long investigation.

Kelly used the social messaging apps Kik and MeetMe to communicate with men in an attempt to sell her child. On December 19, 2017, Kelly messaged a man in Nebraska named Dustin Leiting on the apps and offered both her 8-year-old daughter and herself for sex at the price of $100. Leiting went to the police to report her.

Leiting then allowed undercover officers to use his Kik account to continue communicating with Kelly, who went by “CKelly74” on the app.

On December 28, Kelly agreed to meet the undercover officer for sex with her and her daughter in Longview, Texas. However, Kelly didn’t show. Still, the communication continued, and Kelly admitted to the undercover officer that she had abused other children in the past.

On January 4, the undercover officer and a Child Protective Services investigator tracked Kelly down at her daughter’s school. There, she admitted to attempting to exchange sex with a child and herself for money.

Kelly was not arrested at the time, but her phone was confiscated, and CPS took custody of her child. Police found two sexually explicit videos of her daughter dated on January 2.

Carrie Sue Kelly was arrested on June 12, and her bond is set at $200,000.
