Moment M62 lorry bursts into flames as black smoke fills Huddersfield sky
A lorry burning and on fire has been caught on video as firefighters battled to bring the blaze under control on the M62.
Earlier today, the M62 eastbound was blocked as the emergency services dealt with the fire. Traffic was stopped between junction 23 at New Hey Road and junction 24 at Ainley Top. Traffic was also slowed on the westbound carriageway opposite to the burning lorry.
At the time, the traffic management system, Inrix, said: "M62 Eastbound blocked, stationary traffic due to vehicle fire from J23 A640 New Hey Road (Huddersfield) to J24 A629 (Ainley Top). The road has been blocked since around 11.40am. Originally reported as an accident."

Video footage taken earlier today shows the scene on the M62 as the firefighters attempted to bring the fire under control. The lorry can be seen burning, with flames visible and smoke billowing into the air. Firefighters can be seen on the site attempting to put the fire out.
Traffic is also moving slowly on the westbound carriage in the video as drivers attempt to make their way safely past the fire and smoke. Through the afternoon, traffic has eased on the road and the eastbound carriageway has been reopened.
