The moment murderous doctor Thomas Kwan was arrested for attempted murder in Newcastle
This is the moment that murderous medic Dr Kwan was arrested after a bizarre plot to kill his mother's now ex-partner was uncovered.
In a video shared by Northumbria Police, Thomas Kwan is shown calmly answering the door to his home on Brading Court in Ingleby Barwick in February this year. He was handcuffed whilst in blue-pinstriped pajamas and allowed to put his shoes on before being led out to a waiting cop car.
Kwan, a respected GP in Sunderland, disguised himself as a community nurse and sent fake NHS letters to Patrick O'Hara informing him he was due a Covid booster jab. However, the injection was actually packed with home-made poison.

The injection left him in intensive care with a flesh-eating disease. Mr O'Hara revealed on the steps of Newcastle Crown Court on Wednesday that he is "still recovering" and that it has taken a particular toll mentally.
Kwan, 53, had spent months planning the plot under the nose of his own mother and her partner, who Kwan saw as an obstacle to receiving his inheritance. He had even installed spying software on his mother's computer to monitor her and Mr O'Hara.
At his home, police found a huge collection of poisons and other material. He was later charged with attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
At his Newcastle Crown Court trial in October, he pleaded not guilty to these offences, but did admit a charge of administering a noxious substance. However, on the second day of the trial, he changed his plea to guilty for attempted murder.
On Wednesday, Kwan was sentenced to 31 years and five months behind bars at the same court.
Following the hearing, the officer in charge of the case Det Ch Insp Jason Henry of Northumbria Police said: "I'd like to take this opportunity to reiterate our praise for the victim in this case. We are extremely grateful to him for his co-operation throughout our complex investigation and hope that now the man who poisoned him has been jailed he can begin to move on with his life.”
Detective Chief Inspector Henry added: "Thomas Kwan spent time meticulously planning how he would carry out this offence and cover his tracks. However, thanks to the assistance of the victim and witnesses, and the hard work of our dedicated officers, we managed to piece together what happened, ensuring he was brought to justice."
