Now Monica Lewinsky wants Beyonce to edit 'Partition' lyric about her

Monica Lewinsky has weighed in on Beyonce's recent edit of an offensive lyric, asking the singer to change a line in another song about her.

Beyonce's reps confirmed this week that a lyric in her new track Heated would be changed to take out an ableist slur that was also recently removed from Lizzo's song Grrrls – a word that is used as slang in the US, but derives from an offensive term about people with cerebral palsy.

However, while Beyonce is editing her music, Lewinsky has asked if she can also go back and change the words to 2014 track Partition.

It makes reference to Lewinsky's sex scandal with former US president Bill Clinton when she was working as a White House intern in the 90s.

The lyrics to Partition include: "Oh, he so horny, yeah he want to f*** / He popped all my buttons, he ripped my blouse / He Monica Lewinsky’d all on my gown."

Lewinsky addressed the reference at the time, writing for Vanity Fair in 2014: "Thanks, Beyoncé, but if we’re verbing, I think you meant ‘Bill Clinton’d all on my gown’."

Now, she has tweeted about the song again, linking to an article about the 'Heated' edit and writing: "uhmm, while we’re at it… #Partition"

One person commenting on the tweet pointed out that her Twitter bio flags up the lyric: "'rap song muse' is in your bio. you like the references. only relevance you have as of lately."

But Lewinsky, 49, defended herself, replying: "actually, it’s how i’ve learned to deal with painful or humiliating things… i find the humor. eg in my ted talk."

The Clinton-Lewinsky scandal was recently the subject of a TV drama series, Impeachment: American Crime Story, which starred Beanie Feldstein as Lewinsky, Clive Owen as Clinton, and Edie Falco as Hillary Clinton.
