Montana Cops Put New Spin on Polar Bear Plunge With Firehose and Snow Angels

Police in Bozeman, Montana, enacted a special socially distanced version of a polar bear plunge on February 10, getting sprayed down by a firehose and making snow angels in a fundraiser for the Special Olympics.

For the past 15 years, Gallatin County Law Enforcement has been jumping into Bozeman Pond but due to COVID-19 precautions, in-person participation was limited this year, local media reported.

Footage taken by the Bozeman Police Departments shows the half-dressed officers and Special Olympics athletes, according to local news reports, as they are sprayed by the hose in the snow.

“We’re just going to be sprayed by cold water simply all in effort to raise money for Special Olympics of Montana,” said Bozeman PD interim chief Jim Veltkamp, as reported by Montana Sports.
