Montpellier Owner In Hair Raising Celebration

Roman Abramovich may have maintained his cool when Chelsea finally lifted the European Cup, but one football club owner celebrated his own side's maiden title in hair-raising fashion.

As Montpellier closed in on the French title, president Louis Nicollin vowed to have his hair styled in the club's colours if they ended the season as champions.

The sixty eight year old was true to his word following their decisive 2-1 victory over Auxerre. Nicollin lead the wild celebrations that followed the club's historic win sporting a red and blue Mohawk.

Nicollin has owned and funded the club since 1974 and took centre-stage for the party in Montpellier's Place de la Comedie.

Coach Rene Girard addressed the crowd, still coming to terms with their unexpected triumph:

"I just wanted to say two words. If we have got here it's because we have a wonderful team and it's because you have been wonderful too.

"So see you next year and here's to the Champions League. Thank you."
