Moon Over Colorado Reddens During Eclipse
Skywatchers across the US and in much of Europe and Africa were able to marvel on the night of May 15-16 as a total lunar eclipse turned the moon a reddish hue.
Sunday night’s spectacle has been called a “super flower blood moon”, since May’s full moon is referred to as the flower moon, while a total eclipse is sometimes known as a blood moon due to its color. To complete the celestial triple whammy, and explain the mouthful of a name, the eclipse came as the moon was closest to Earth, making it a “super moon."
