More Buffy stars share support for Charisma Carpenter amid Joss Whedon allegations

Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Eliza Dushku has voiced her support of co-star Charisma Carpenter.

The actor is the latest Buffy star to speak out in solidarity with Carpenter in the wake of the allegations she has made against the show’s creator Joss Whedon.

Dushku – who starred as Faith on the hit series – shared an emotional statement on social media on Thursday (11 February).

“CC, my heart aches for you and I’m so sorry you have held this for so long,” wrote Dushku. “Your post was powerful, painful, and painted a picture we’ll collectively never un-see or un-know.”

In a social media post shared on Wednesday (10 February), Carpenter made claims that Whedon had abused his power towards her during her time on the series and its spin-off show Angel, and alleged that “traumatic” interactions had occured between her and Whedon when she was pregnant.

Dushku wrote that she had not known about Whedon’s alleged abusive behaviour.

The Bring It On star continued: “What I’m learning more and more – and have personally found most valuable – is that profound healing can only come from naming and disclosing what actually happened, the necessary first step (once someone’s ready) to freeing ourselves from our secrets, untold truths which have kept us isolated, ashamed, and held hostage.”

“From courage, come change and hope,” concluded Dushku. “It starts and will end because of courageous truth-tellers like you. I admire, respect, and love you.”

The 40-year-old’s comments come shortly after co-stars Sarah Michelle Gellar (who played the titular character), Michelle Trachtenberg (who portrayed Gellar’s younger sister Dawn), Amber Benson (Tara) and Clare Kramer (Glory on season five) also voiced their support for Carpenter.

Representatives for Whedon have not commented on Carpenter’s allegations at this time, but The Independent has contacted them.
