More Than a Dozen People Killed as Cyclone Hits Philippines

At least 13 people were killed and nine reported missing as Tropical Cyclone Kompasu caused flash flooding and landslides in the Philippines on October 12, authorities said.

Footage released by the Philippines Coast Guard shows people being rescued from floodwaters in Palwan.

The Philippines’ National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said the storm triggered 14 landslides, and 1,968 people were evacuated.

The Manila Times reported the worst of the damage was in northern Luzon.
