More than a million people can claim a free drink from Starbucks

Starbucks is giving away free drinks to NHS workers across the country on Thursday.

All NHS staff can claim one free 'tall' beverage at Starbucks when they show a valid NHS ID card. All drinks are eligible, including festive favourites such as the Toffee Nut Latte, the brand-new Gingerbread Cream Iced Chai Tea Latte and Caramel Waffle Cream Iced Latte.

In addition, Starbucks are delivering some goodies to participating hospitals. They are gifting 25,000 Starbucks Doubleshot Espresso cans and 42,000 Starbucks Premium Instant sachets alongside baked goods such as chocolate covered pretzels and vegan brownies directly to hospitals.

To claim a free drink, NHS workers must show their valid NHS card, Blue Light cards won't be accepted. This is the fifth year Starbucks has partnered with NHS Charities Together for this morale-boosting initiative.

There are around 1.5m NHS workers across the UK.

"Starbucks has always been a place where people come together and we hope that NHS staff can do just that on Thursday over a coffee on us.

"Thank you to our ongoing partner NHS Charities Together whose invaluable work supports the mental health and wellbeing of NHS staff across the UK."

Ellie Orton OBE, CEO of NHS Charities Together said: “Through our incredible partnership with Starbucks UK we’ve been able to make an even bigger difference to NHS staff, patients and communities.

"For example, over the last two years we’ve seen over £2m invested in transforming outdoor spaces into therapeutic wellbeing gardens through the Greener Communities Fund.

“Winter is always a demanding season for the NHS, with 72% of the public rating working within the NHS as the most difficult job to do over the festive period in a recent survey, so this initiative couldn’t come at a better time.

"We hope Starbucks Free Coffee Giveaway will remind our NHS staff across the UK that their dedication is appreciated and they will be able to take a break from their life-saving duties and enjoy the festive season.”
