'More perspiration than inspiration' - Leeds United star put down in brutal assessment
Five Leeds United players were sent out on loan during the summer transfer window. Jack Harrison went back to Everton in the Premier League, while Sonny Perkins dropped back down to League One and his roots at Leyton Orient.
Darko Gyabi and Sam Greenwood stayed in the Championship, but moved to opposite ends of the country. The former returned to Home Park and Plymouth Argyle under Wayne Rooney, while the latter went over the Pennines to Preston North End.
Rasmus Kristensen returned to the continent and agreed a year-long deal with Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, where he linked up with former Elland Road team-mate Robin Koch.
Here’s the latest on how they got on in their most recent games.
Jack Harrison
The 27-year-old played 64 minutes of Everton’s 3-2 loss at Aston Villa on Saturday. It was the second consecutive match the Toffees lost 3-2, having lead 2-0 in the game. Harrison also caught attention for all the wrong reasons.
It was the winger’s poor clearance which diverted directly to Ollie Watkins for the hosts’ equaliser. Harrison was given a five out of 10 in the Liverpool Echo’s player ratings.
“Was unfortunate it was his clearance at full stretch that fell into the path of Watkins for the equaliser and, while he put in a shift down the right flank, tracking back to help [James] Garner after his introduction, it was more perspiration than inspiration from him with few opportunities to put in quality deliveries,” the report said.
Sonny Perkins
The 20-year-old is yet to start in the league for Orient. On Saturday, he came on in the 67th minute of the team’s first league win of the season, a 1-0 victory at Reading. Last night, Perkins started in the 3-1 Carabao Cup loss at Brentford, though he was taken off in the 54th minute.
Darko Gyabi
The midfielder has been popular with Rooney this season and strung together multiple starts in the engine room for the Devon outfit. Gyabi played 83 minutes in Argyle’s dramatic 3-2 win over Sunderland at Home Park.

He was given a seven out of 10 in The Herald’s player ratings for the match. The report said: “Wasted Argyle's best scoring chance of the first half, which came after Sunderland had taken the lead, when the ball broke to him inside the Sunderland box, but rather than taking a touch, which he had the time to do, he opted for a first-time shot and blasted it over the crossbar.
“Undeterred by that miss, Gyabi went on to put in a strong second-half performance before he was taken off in the closing stages.”
Sam Greenwood
There was 90 minutes for Greenwood on his return to Riverside Stadium, where he played on loan last season. It was a 1-1 draw for Paul Heckingbottom’s side on Saturday.
The youngster was given a seven out of 10 by the Lancashire Post. Its report said: “Another energetic performance, carrying out a variety of roles for the team over the 90 minutes. A well-timed, crunching tackle late in the day.”
Greenwood came on in the second half of Preston's Carabao Cup clash with Fulham last night too, scoring both his penalties in a mammoth 16-15 shootout win for the hosts.
Rasmus Kristensen
The Dane was given another 90 minutes in the Bundesliga, alongside Koch, as Eintracht beat Wolfsburg 2-1 away from home.
