More Secrets Emerge About Apple’s New iPhone - Arriving on September 16

The time for Apple’s autumn crop of iPhones is drawing near - and the date is going to be September 16, according to one Apple expert.

Evan Blass, behind several previous accurate iPhone leaks said, 'iPhone 2016 release: week of September 12th. Just to clarify, this refers to the retail release, not the launch event. To be even more specific, it should happen on Friday, Sept. 16th.’

The latest rumours suggest that the new handset will no longer come in a 16GB model - but that the top-of-the-range iPhone will now offer 256GB of storage.

The new phone may also be getting rid of the headphone socket, which may mean millions of users have to buy new, expensive headphones, or use adaptors.

A leaked image shown off on China’s Weibo social network shows a convincing picture of this year’s upcoming iPhone 7, compared to last year’s iPhone 6S.

Apple site MacRumors says, ‘Whatever the origin of the assembled 4.7-inch iPhone 7 unit, it matches the Space Grey of the iPhone 6s, and features the larger camera and repositioned antenna bands seen in previous images and alleged design leaks.

‘It also clearly shows a lack of headphone jack, with a second speaker grille alongside the Lightning port where it used to be.’

Various reports have suggested that Apple is considering ditching the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack, in favour of headphones which plug in via the Lightning port.
