More than 100 women have been killed by men in the UK this year

More than 100 women have been killed by men in the UK so far this year, research has shown.

It comes as police released the identity of the man suspected of killing Maddie Durdant-Hollamby, a 22-year-old dancer who was found dead at a property in Kettering on Friday.

Counting Dead Women has listed at least 100 women who have been killed by men or where a man is the principle suspect.

The online platform, which is run by Karen Ingala Smith, campaigner and CEO of domestic and sexual violence charity nia, keeps track of the number of women killed by men in the UK.

At least two other women have been killed in the last two weeks where a man is the principle suspect.

The first is Durdant-Hollamby, whose 41-year-old boyfriend Benjamin Green was named as the man found dead in the same incident.

The force said they are not seeking anyone else in connection with her death, which they are treating as murder.

Meanwhile, last week, mother-of-four Helen Anderson's body was found near the A3 in Guildford.

Dane Messam, 52, from Hackney, east London, has now been charged with her murder.

In the last two weeks, Counting Dead Women documented the deaths of three other women.

On 14 August, Bella Nicandro, 76, was stabbed to death in her home in London.

Her neighbour Aaron Cook, 23, has since been charged with her murder.

The following day, Eileen Barrott, 50, was found seriously injured in her home in Leeds but died at the scene.

Her husband, Mark Barrott, 54, has been charged with her murder.

Meanwhile on 19 August, Sharron Pickles was found dead with a stab wound to her throat in a home in North London.

Police found Lee Peacock, 49, more than a week later on a canal barge in Ealing, west London. He was rushed to hospital in what was believed to be self-inflicted injuries.

Peacock has since been charged with her murder as well as that of Clinton Ashmore in Westminster.

It comes after protests and calls for a crackdown on violence against women were sparked by the death of Sarah Everard.

The 33-year-old disappeared as she walked home from a friend’s house in Clapham, south London, on the evening of 3 March.

Met Police officer Wayne Couzens has since pleaded guilty to her rape, kidnap and murder.
