The internationally known creator of TV period drama Downton Abbey will be in conversation in Dorchester at an upcoming event.

Julian Fellowes will speak at a meeting of the Thomas Hardy Society on Sunday, October 30 at 6.30pm.

The evening will be held at Dorchester Town Hall and offers an an opportunity to get to know Lord Fellowes better as he speaks to Society chairman Canon Richard Franklin Richard about 10 of his favourite books and films.

The event will also incorporate a wine reception.

As well as being a writer Lord Fellowes has had a career in acting and is deeply interested in literature. He has been the President of the Thomas Hardy Society for a number of years.

More recently he created The Gilded Age, which is set in late 19th century New York.
