Morgan Rogers given England green light after 'outstanding' Aston Villa form
Morgan Rogers has been backed to become the latest Aston Villa player to get the nod from England as Lee Carsley prepares to reveal his squad for the forthcoming international matches in October. Rogers has been in excellent form for Villa under Unai Emery this term and scored in the 2-2 draw at Ipswich last Sunday.
Villa have a healthy record of call-ups in recent years; Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa, Jack Grealish and Ollie Watkins have all at various intervals received international recognition and Rogers would appear to be the next Villa prospect who can break into the Three Lions set-up.
England under Carsley play Greece and Finland this month in the Nations League, having won their previous two games in September. Former Villa defender and Ireland international Richard Dunne is of the opinion that Rogers has merited an inclusion.

“Morgan Rogers is 100% deserving of an England call-up," he told Bet Victor. "Watching him more this season, you can see just how good a player he is. He looks like a player that could play international football. He’s really confident, he takes the ball forward, he likes to carry the ball, and his form for Villa has been outstanding.
“Lee Carsley has been really fair with giving young players a chance in his squad. He picks players who are in form regardless of age, and Rogers fits that category. He’s playing in the Champions League which can make all the difference with international selection. He has to have a chance of making the squad.”
Dunne said of his centre half counterpart Konsa: “Ezri Konsa is a very good player, especially when he’s in the centre of defence. He’s so important for Villa, but when it comes to England, there’s certainly a place up for grabs there. They have the likes of Marc Guehi, Levi Colwill and Jarrad Branthwaite fighting for that slot, but there’ll be opportunities.
“He’s had a couple of auditions, including the Euros, and he’s done really well. He’s playing higher up the league than those he’s competing against and he’s also playing Champions League football which makes a difference. He’ll be disappointed if he’s not one of the main men in the England side when Lee Carsley picks his team.”
