This Morning fans livid as Manchester attack 'ignored'
This Morning viewers were incensed today (May 22) as they claimed the ITV daytime show failed to sufficiently mark the one-year anniversary of the Manchester terror attack.
The programme instead focussed on a mother struggling to get her child to move on from nappies, Davina McCall's new show A&E Live and Dr Chris Steele discussing the risks of Calpol, which was dubbed "like heroin" for children.
Elsewhere, they also spoke to a woman whose tragic loss of her daughter led to her developing a phobia of coffee, an interview with singer Joan Armatrading and a guide to royal wedding cake.
Viewers took to social media to share their frustrations, as they felt the show prioritised less important segments and largely "ignored" the anniversary of the attack, which saw 22 fans killed following an Ariana Grande concert last year.
On a real, it’s the year anniversary of the Manchester attack. And #ThisMorning are chatting about potty training. Wtf

When are you going to focus on the Manchester attack. Fed up with morning telly. You should be focusing on that and paying tribute to them 😔 you've completely ignored it today! #thismorning

Phobia of coffee?! Ok a year after the Manchester attack that's relevant. The producers need to go back to college this is not good TV. #thismorning

#thismorning is London-centric, they don’t care about Manchester, just useless parents who can’t toilet train their frigging kids.

Following the backlash on social media, Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby paused towards the end of the show to acknowledge the anniversary.
The presenters read out Ariana Grande's tweet paying tribute to the victims of the attack and Holly added that her sentiments were echoed.
She said: "We're sending all our love and best wishes to Manchester today."
Digital Spy has contacted This Morning for comment.
However, the show did mark the anniversary on Monday's show (May 21), when they interviewed two fans, Lucy Jarvis and Millie Robson, who were actually at the concert.
Milled explained: "There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about it, I just think knowing that it's the anniversary is going to make it a bit more difficult."
The segment saw Holly become tearful as she spoke to the two young girls, as Lucy explained that she's now learning to walk again.
This Morning continues weekdays from 10.30am.
