Kerry Katona appeared on This Morning to introduce her long-lost brother, who she met for the first time backstage at a panto over Christmas. Yep, really.

The former Atomic Kitten singer discovered the father who raised her was in fact her step-dad, and her mother then revealed her biological father was a man named Ronnie.

As Kerry was born from an affair, she didn't want to disrupt Ronnie's new family, so in 2004 when she appeared in I'm a Celebrity she hired a PR company to prevent his identity being revealed by the media.

In 2008 Ronnie Armstrong passed away, and his family connection to Kerry Katona was revealed by the newspapers.

Kerry explained: "The reporters went and knocked on my dad's wife's door to say, 'Your husband has had an affair, and by the way he has a daughter, it's Kerry Katona'.

Kerry then discovered that Ronnie had been married before and had another two other children, including one called Jason.

Kerry's long-lost brother Jason Dickinson explained that he had met Ronnie's new family previously, but hasn't stayed in touch due to family issues.

He said: "Obviously we found out about Kerry and with everything that was going on, I just stayed in the background and let everything go on, Kerry had a lot going on in her life and obviously meeting the new family and stuff, so I left it for a while.

"A year later I let it all die down, as I've got family and I could see what the newspapers and stuff can do, and I didn't want that coming into my life, if you like. So I left it and then on New Year's Day 2011 I text her basically saying, 'Hi Kez, hope you don't mind, I'm your big brother.'

Jason added that the pair texted constantly since then, but didn't meet as he lived in the north and Kerry was living in the south. She was busy with work, and he had his own family and an on-going divorce to deal with.

Jason finished by explaining that he's getting married in February of this year and wanted to text Kerry to invite her to the wedding.

"It was December in the panto when you decided well, we won't wait until the wedding, we're going to do it now.

They met for the first time in December while she was performing at the Cinderella pantomime in Chester.

This Morning continues weekdays from 10.30am.
