This Morning viewer picks old cushion over plasma TV in competition giveaway

Today’s This Morning gave viewers a comical moment when it came to picking a competition prize.

With hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford presented the last of ITV’s morning show from the Southbank location until 2023, they decided to give away the set – which included the expensive electrical equipment that filled it.

However, when the married hosts spoke to the first caller and asked what she’d like to take as her own, she answered with a rather bizarre request.

After having a look around the set, as the camera scanned the area, she chose… the cushion Ruth was sitting on rather than anything of actual value or use (as comfy as a cushion can admittedly be).

Despite the odd choice, they let the seemingly satisfied viewer have her wish.

But for the second caller, Eamonn decided to take matters into his own hands and choose for her.

‘What’s all this choosing cushions when you can have a TV?!’ he quipped, before the caller seemed pleased by his chosen gift for her.

Later on, former This Morning presenter Fern Britton, who appeared on the programme until 2009, rang in to ask if she could have one of the set’s pink arm chairs – much to the amusement and delight of Eamonn and Ruth.

It just goes to show that you can’t put a price on memories.
