'This Morning' viewers outraged as guest says obese people should pay more to fly

This Morning viewers were outraged today after one of its guests argued that obese people should pay more to fly.

Fitness writer Danni Levy and plus-size body coach Michelle Bell were invited onto the morning show to discuss a viral video of a woman complaining about being sat in between two obese passengers.

Levy believes that people should be weighed when checking in at an airport and charged accordingly, which left some viewers disgusted.

“You want to see people being weighed at check in as if they were luggage?” asked host Holly Willoughby.

Levy then broke into laughter before replying: “Yes, I do. I agree.”

Co-host Phillip Schofield interjected: “How’s that going to make them feel when you rock up and there’s a skinny person who stands there in the queue and then the other person – because you’ve already bought your ticket so you can’t be charged more for your ticket unless at point of purchase they ask you for your weight?

“So you get to the airport and they look at you and think ‘oh, that’s going to use more fuel on the plane so would you pop yourself onto these scales please’.”

Levy explained that she thinks people should be charged for the total weight of their baggage and body, whether you’re plus-size or tall, arguing that if you use more fuel you should pay more.

But Willoughby then hit her with some facts as she shared: “Well, Luke Jensen here who is a researcher at the International Centre for Air Transport said a 50 pound weight increase would increase fuel consumption by about three dollars. It’s a tiny amount, isn’t it?”

Plus size advocate Bell also argued that individuals aren’t allowed to just ‘buy two seats’ for themselves on a flight and that you can’t take an exit seat if you have a disability – for which she argues many obese people may have.

Many viewers were left seemingly disgusted by Levy as she even argued that fat shaming people could be saving their lives because it’ll motivate them to lose weight.
