This Morning viewers were left unhappy at the lack of coverage the programme gave to marking the first anniversary of the Manchester Arena attack.

The bomb, detonated in the foyer of the Manchester Arena just as Ariana Grande’s concert finished, killed 22 and injured many more on Monday 22 May 2017.

As the nation – and the world – is marking the first anniversary, ITV’s flagship show didn’t mention the tragedy until 12pm when Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield read out a tweet from Ariana Grande.

Many viewers were unhappy with the programme, before and after the mention, with many railing against the show for “shameful” coverage in an episode that also featured potty training, cake baking and a phobia of coffee as well as Royal wedding coverage.

One wrote: “Shame on @thismorning for ignoring the 1st anniversary of the Manchester attack. Only mentioning it slightly at the end due to the power of social media #Disgraceful #Thismorning #ManchesterTogether #ManchesterBombing.”

While another said: “On a real, it’s the year anniversary of the Manchester attack. And #ThisMorning are chatting about potty training. Wtf.”

“When are you going to focus on the Manchester attack. Fed up with morning telly. You should be focusing on that and paying tribute to them. You've completely ignored it today! #thismorning,” commented somebody else.

A spokesperson for This Morning told Standard Online: “This Morning covered the Manchester attack in full items on Friday and yesterday to allow victims and those involved the opportunity to be on the sofa then be free to travel back to the city in time for today’s remembrance."

On Monday, the show met two survivors of the attack Millie Robson and Lucy Jarvis, with Lucy having suffered serious leg injuries on the night and just beginning to walk again.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10.30am on ITV.
