This Morning gets a lot of strange guests, let's be honest, and it may have welcomed one of its most unexpected on today's (January 22) show.

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby chatted to the Wight Knight – a 'real-life superhero' from the Isle of Wight who appeared on the sofa wearing a helmet and balaclava.

The guest revealed that his persona started out after he "wanted to find a way to help the community" and to "make it a better place", finding the Real Life Superhero Movement as an inspiration to create the Wight Knight.

"I'm basically a neighbourhood watch or street pastor, but wearing a superhero outfit," he explained, revealing that kids see it as a "beacon of hope".

"I'm just trying to do my bit to make the community a better place, and if one person sees me and decides, 'Look at this guy, look what he's doing, he's doing really good for the community, he's putting across a good message'.

"'I want to volunteer somewhere, I want to be like him, I want to make a donation to charity' – if someone does that, I know I've done my job," the Wight Knight added.

Explaining why he hides his identity, the superhero admitted it was due to the "negativity" of others, and that he uses insults such as "Poundland Power Ranger" against them.

The Wight Knight added: "I am autistic and I have been all my life, but it was a late diagnosis. So when I was growing up I really wanted someone to look up to."

Holly and Phil praised him, though many viewers at home were somewhat confused by the segment:

However, others agreed with Holly and Phil and praised the Wight Knight:

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10.30am.
