Major supermarket retailer Morrisons is hiring extra staff in its stores, convenience stores, and business units to help with the demand during the busy festive season. The roles include a range of flexible and shift-pattern jobs across the UK, including in Coventry and Warwickshire.

The roles in Coventry and Warwickshire include customer assistants and a store manager position. In our region, there are currently seven roles up for grabs.

Coventry has four Morrisons branches, including three supermarkets and one convenience store in the Lockhurst Lane BP branch. We have listed the current roles available at Morrisons below, and you can apply for them via the official retailer website here.

Customer Assistant (Online) - Coventry Holbrooks

Morrisons is looking for a Customer Assistant to work in the online department, selecting and packing orders for online customers. The role involves using technology to accept orders, find products in the store, and pack them ready for customers via delivery or collection services.

Successful applicants will be trained across all departments such as replenishment and service. The shifts are 5am, from Monday to Sunday, and it is a permanent and part-time role for 10 to 16 hours a week with hourly pay.

Customer Assistant (Replenishment) - Coventry Holyhead Road

The role will include working within the replenishment department, working the 'fresh and ambient' products onto the shop floor. The role will involve replenishing to stock the shelves, and successful applicants will be trained across all departments, such as Market Street and Service.

The shifts are 4am starts Monday to Sunday, and it is a permanent and part-time position for 10 to 16 hours per week with hourly pay.

Customer Assistant (Replenishment) - Leamington Spa

This role will also be replenishing the shelves but with a different shift pattern from Monday to Sunday from 7am to 11pm. The role is a fixed-term, part-time contract for 16 to 30 hours a week.

Customer Assistant (Market Street and Cafe) - Leamington Spa

The role will involve working with fresh food across the Market Street from fish and meat, preparing fresh pizzas, or serving meals for customers in the cafe. The shift pattern is Monday to Sunday from 7am to 7pm on a fixed-term, part-time contract for 16 to 30 hours a week.

Store Manager (Convenience) - Warwick (Percy Estate)

The role will involve leading a team to create a culture where customer experience is 'best in the market', in line with the Morrisons brand, leading on all people activities including recruitment, induction, training and development, building and managing relationships, and working hard to get the best out of the store's commercial performance. It is a full-time role with 5 out of 7 days full flexibility for weekends.

Customer Assistant (Replenishment) - Stratford-upon-Avon

This role will also be to replenish the shelves at the Stratford-upon-Avon Store. The role is flexible on a fixed-term, part-time contract for 16 to 30 hours a week.

Customer Assistant (Market Street and Cafe) - Stratford-upon-Avon

This role will also involve working with fresh food across the Market Street from fish and meat, preparing fresh pizzas, or serving meals for customers in the cafe. The shift pattern is flexible with a fixed-term, part-time contract for 16 to 30 hours a week.

All new staff will be fully trained and will benefit from a 15% discount in supermarkets and convenience stores, an additional 10% discount card for a friend or family member, and subsidised in-store cafe or shop-floor ranges.

    STORY: The Middle East is a key air corridor for planes heading to India, South-East Asia and Australia.But with recent instability, the safety debate about flying over the region is playing out.Concerns are being raised in Europe particularly, because pilots there are protected by unions, unlike other parts of the world.Reuters spoke to four pilots, three cabin crew members, three flight security experts and two airline executives about growing safety concerns in the European air industry.Reuters also reviewed nine unpublished letters from unions representing pilots and crews.They expressed worries about air safety over Middle Eastern countries.The letters were sent to multiple airlines, the European Commission and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency in the summer.In late September, an experienced pilot at Wizz Air felt anxious after learning his plane would fly over Iraq at night amid mounting tensions between nearby Iran and Israel.He decided to query the decision since just a week earlier the airline had deemed the route unsafe. According to the pilot, Wizz Air's flight operations team told him the airway was now considered secure and he had to fly it.Days later, Iraq closed its airspace when Iran fired missiles on October 1st at Israel. In response to Reuters' queries, Wizz Air said safety is its top priority and it had carried out detailed risk assessments before resuming flights over Iraq and other Middle Eastern countries.In other letters, staff called on airlines to be more transparent about their decisions on routes.The ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran and the abrupt ousting of President Bashar al-Assad by Syrian rebels at the weekend have raised concerns of further insecurity in the region.Some European airlines including Lufthansa and KLM allow crew to opt-out of routes they don't feel are safe.But others such as Wizz Air, Ryanair and airBaltic don't.AirBaltic said the airline meets an international safety standard that doesn't need to be adjusted.Ryanair, which intermittently flew to Jordan and Israel until September, said it makes security decisions based on EASA guidance.Passenger rights groups are also asking for travelers to receive more information.
