Some news from the world of the rich and famous (and no, we're not talking about Kylie Jenner this time, but rather our neighbors from across the pond)! The most expensive residential sale in the United Kingdom just took place: Hong Kong real estate developer Cheung Chung Kiu purchased a mansion for a whopping $262,000,00o. Woo baby!

So let's talk about this sprawling, luxe abode that just broke history for its exorbitant price tag. The 62,000-square-foot mansion, located at 2-8a Rutland Gate, actually used to be four separate homes before being combined into one massive building with 45 rooms. It overlooks Hyde Park and is a short walk from Harrods, one of the world's most iconic department stores. According to The Guardian, the property is rumored have a swimming pool and boast interiors decorated with millions of pounds worth of gold leaf.

The home's sale breaks the record previously held by the sale of a country manor in Oxfordshire for £140 million ($183 million) in 2011, according to Mansion Global. Not only that, but this sale also beat the United States' most expensive sale, which is currently Ken Griffin's $238,000,000 home in central Manhattan that overlooks Central Park. Wow, OKAY, is anyone else feeling poor yet?

Chung Kiu purchased the property from the estate of Saudi Arabia's late crown prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz, reports the Wall Street Journal. The mansion was previously owned by the former prime minister of Lebanon, Rafic Hariri, who, upon his death, gifted it to the Saudi crown prince, according to The Guardian. What's even more surprising is that this isn't Chung Kiu's most expensive purchase: In 2015, he bought a plot on the Peak in Hong Kong for HK $5.1 billion ($656 million), which broke records at the time, according to Bloomberg. Safe to say, this guy probably doesn't shop at IKEA or need any of our budgeting tips. Happy housewarming (err mansionwarming!?!), Chung Kiu!
