Is This The Most Pointless Bridge Ever?

We’re on the road to nowhereeeeee.

That’s the dilemma that Chinese motorists were left facing, after a crossroads was built at a cost of almost £1million – but no one is using it.

The footbridge in Dazhou City, Sichaun Province, took two years to construct – but the project’s detractors have claimed that only a handful of people use the bridge every morning because of its bad design.

The bridge was originally designed to make it easier for pedestrians to pass through the city – but council planners decided that they favoured a trendy design, resulting in the bridge’s circular appearance.

And now, pedestrians are even opting to avoid the bridge, and have instead decided to cross illegally through traffic.

Coco Chang, a local resident, said: ‘The traffic around here is not really busy anyway, so it’s not as if we really need this bridge in the first place’.

Others have suggested that the installation of wheelchair access could improve the bridge – but the high cost of initial construction reportedly means that it will remain unchanged for the foreseeable future.
