Airbnb has opened up a world of accommodation possibilities all over the globe. From staying in houses shaped like shells and dogs, to renting homes chiseled into caves or stranded on the seas, you can now live your best, most unusual life while on holiday.

But out of all the great-value apartments, luxury mansions and weird and wonderful holiday homes, which Airbnb is the most popular of them all?

Well, according to the Today Show it's a small, intimate property hidden in the trees, literally, in the centre of Atlanta.

Perhaps no shock that during the age of the Insta-grid a treehouse in the wilderness covered in fairy lights is where people want to stay the most, hey?

The 'secluded intown treehouse' has just one bedroom (unless you include the hammock on the decking) which you can reach by walking the wooden bridge across from the living room, while the bed is positioned on a balcony so you can sleep right under the stars in the middle of nature.

Unsurprisingly, the listing is pretty inundated with enquiries, having over 300,000 site visits per month and 147,052 people saving it to their Airbnb "wish lists", according to Today Home.

The treehouse was built 18 years ago by environmental activist Peter Bahouth and he's enjoyed seeing his love for the property reflected in his guests. "I've tried to understand why it's been so popular," Bahouth told Today "I think it's a simple response to a complicated world for a lot of people."

As well as providing the location for movie wrap parties and weddings, the treehouse also acts as a retreat for writers, honeymooners and people who need a break from modern-day life. Sign us up!
