January is all about renewal; well, it is the start of a fresh year, right? And for some, it will also signal the beginning of something new and altogether more daunting: their parenthood journey. One of the first jobs on the list is picking out a baby name to give your January baby, and if you're stuck at that initial hurdle, we're here with some ideas.

If you're the kind of person who likes to seek baby name inspiration by looking at what's typically been most popular at this time of year, then look no further. Every year, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) collates data about all the names given to babies born in England and Wales, so we've handily listed the top names for baby boys and baby girls born in January 2020 for you (that's the most recent data out there at the moment), so you can have a browse and see if anything stands out.

Or if going with the masses is less appealing to you, you might prefer to theme your baby's name based on its birth month. With January evoking all things fresh and new, we suggest some first-month-of-the-year-inspired baby names at the end. Let's hope you find something that tickles your fancy...
