Mother 'Kills Son' In Restaurant Bathroom

A woman whose one-year-old son died after she locked herself in a restaurant bathroom with him has been arrested.

When workers forced their way into the locked bathroom, they found the boy, Gavriel Ortiz-Fisher, unconscious and foaming at the mouth, reports said.

The 20-month-old boy was taken to hospital but was declared dead.

His mother, 35-year-old Latisha Fisher, was taken into custody at the scene. Charges are pending.

According to the New York Daily News, a woman saw Ms Fisher hold her hand over her son's mouth, saying she was trying "to put him to sleep".

The incident took place at 5 Boro Burger in Midtown Manhattan.

Ms Fisher's mother, Merial Fisher, told the Daily News: "It's really unbelievable. I know my daughter loves her son".

"I don't know what happened. It's just so sad."
