A man lost his life on Wednesday afternoon after a road traffic accident in Co Donegal.

Shortly before 3pm on Wednesday, September 11, Gardai and emergency services responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision on the R257 in the Bunbeg area of the county.

A motorcyclist, a male aged in his 60s, was found to have suffered fatal injuries in the collision, the latest in a horror three weeks on Donegal roads.

The local coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

The road was closed yesterday for a full technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision investigators but it has since re-opened.

Gardai have now issued an appeal for witnesses, particularly those who may have dashcam footage of the area around the time of the collision, to make contact with authorities.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told The Irish Mirror: "Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Milford Garda Station on 074 915 3060, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
