A man in his 30s has been taken to hospital suffering serious injuries after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a parked vehicle in the village of Woolaston.

Shortly before 7.30pm tonight Gloucestershire County Council initially reported on Twitter/X that the A48 at Woolaston had been closed following a crash and that alternative routes should be taken by motorists.

However, Gloucestershire Constabulary later stated that emergency services were at the scene of the collision on Netherend in Woolaston.

The force confirmed a man had been taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol and the road remained closed while police attended the scene, adding that the matter was reported to them by the ambulance service at around 5.30pm today (September 14).

In a later statement the force suggested the initial location of the incident put forward by the council was incorrect, explaining that the man had "sustained serious injuries in a collision in the Forest of Dean.

They continued: "Police were called by the ambulance service shortly after 5.30pm today, Saturday 14 September, with a report a motorcyclist had collided with a parked vehicle.

"The incident happened on Netherend in the village of Woolaston, near Lydney.

"The rider, aged in his 30s, sustained serious injuries and has been taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol by paramedics.
