Motorist dies in crash on Staffordshire border
A man has died following a collision this morning. Emergency services - including an air ambulance - were called out to Buxton Road, between Brierlow Bar and Longnor.
Police urged motorists to avoid the area as they expected the route to be 'closed for some time'. Now Derbyshire Police have confirmed that sadly a man in his 50s has died after a Land Rover Discovery hit a bridge.
Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the fatal crash to get in touch.

A spokeswoman for the constabulary said: "A man has died following a collision near Buxton. The incident occurred on the B5053 Buxton Road, between Buxton and Longnor, just before 8.30am when a Land Rover Discovery was in collision with a bridge. The driver of the Land Rover was pronounced dead at the scene. His family are aware and our thoughts are with them at this time. Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has dashcam footage, is asked to contact us."
A spokeswoman for East Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 8.30am today to Hindlow, Buxton. The caller reported a road traffic collision. We sent two crewed ambulances, a medical first responder and the air ambulance was also in attendance."
