Motorists have been warned to expect traffic and delays on the M65 eastbound after a crash near Rishton.

According to the AA, the crash was first reported at 7.40am today (February 1).

The crash took place between J5 A6077 (Guide / Shadsworth) to J6 A6119 Whitebirk Drive, near the Whitebirk Roundabout.

Police said the crash involved two car and was damage only.

Travel restrictions are in place and there are currently delays of around six minutes and the average speed on the stretch of road is around 25mph.

There is some congestion between J3 A674 Chorley Road (Blackburn West / Wheelton / Walton) and J6 A6119 Whitebirk Drive (Whitebirk Roundabout).

All lanes have since been re-opened.
