Mount Sinabung: Video shows spectacular volcanic explosion that turned day to night

Villagers living on the Indonesian island of Sumatra reported the ‘day turned into night’ when Mount Sinabung shot billowing columns of ash more than 5,000 metres into the atmosphere.

A video by the Indonesian Red Cross claimed the area was ‘pitch black’ as thick layers of ash covered the roads and houses.
