A mountain biker has been airlifted to hospital after suffering a 'nasty' injury at a quarry in East Lancashire.

Emergency services including the North West Air Ambulance Charity and a team from Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team (RPMRT) were alerted to the incident at Lee Quarry in Bacup at around 1.40pm on Thursday (October 17). North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said the casualty had 'taken a bad fall and suffered a nasty lower leg injury.'

As mountain rescue volunteers deployed to the scene, an air ambulance also made its way to the location. They landed as initial RPMRT members made their way up to the quarry.
