When there’s Mountain Dew news, it’s usually about a new flavor — like those Baja Blast varieties. But this time, it’s about something that we were never expecting. Say hello to Mountain Dew Hot Sauce!

The new offering comes in collaboration with NBA All-Star and Philadelphia 76er Joel Embiid, and the Houston-based hot sauce shop iBurn. Mountain Dew let fans choose what flavor the hot sauce would be via Twitter and Facebook polls. There were just 2 days for people to vote on whether they would like it to be Peri-Peri, Fatalii, Habanero, or Datil. Almost 40% of the votes went to habanero, so ta-da! It has been created and is ready to be the topping on your favorite meals.

We know that there are two questions on everyone’s minds: Is the hot sauce made with actual Mountain Dew? Where can I get it?

The Mountain Dew Hot Sauce is a combination of citrus and heat, and, yes, it’s made with real non-caffeinated Mountain Dew, a PR rep confirmed to Best Products. Now, as for how you can get it yourself: This is a super exclusive offering, and there are only 500 bottles of the Mountain Dew Hot Sauce. Stay tuned on Mountain Dew’s Twitter page and the brand will be revealing how you can get your own in the coming days.

“I’m always looking for that extra kick of spice when I put hot sauce on my food, and no one knows how to bring the heat better than my friends at MTN DEW,” Embiid said in a statement. “We sampled so many different flavors, spices, and peppers while making the sauce. It was crazy! And the best part was that we got to bring DEW fans along for the ride. I think people will agree that there is no other hot sauce like this.”

It’s always interesting when two things we love — in this case, Mountain Dew and hot sauce — come together. Does the combination sound strange? Totally. But will that stop us from doing everything we can to get a bottle? Absolutely not.
