Mourners in Edinburgh Wait Overnight to View Queen's Coffin
Mourners waited in line overnight into Tuesday, September 13, to see the late Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin as it lay in rest at St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh.
Footage recorded by Christopher Carroll shows the line in the Meadows, Edinburgh, shortly before 11 pm on Monday.
The Scottish Government said on Twitter late on Monday that mourners would have to “queue through the night”.
Carroll told Storyful that he began waiting at 9 pm on Monday night and entered the cathedral around 2:30 am.
The queen’s coffin was set to be flown to London on Tuesday evening, ahead of a period of lying in state at Westminster Hall. The public was being warned of potential wait times in London of up to 35 hours. Credit: Christopher Carroll via Storyful
