'Much better' verdict as Plymouth city centre revamp continues
The council have shared photos of the ongoing work to revamp the city centre's main shopping area - and PlymouthLive readers have been sharing their thoughts on the snaps in our comments section.
New George Street and Old Town Street are undergoing some modernisation, with old 80s-era landscaping being removed. Following feedback from shoppers, new benches, seats and bins are being added to give people a chance to take a break while out and about in the city centre.
Some of the new seats have backs and handrails while others are just plain without these features. And the council has promised they'll be a comfortable place to take a break, saying: "The slats that form the base of the seats are chunky, solid English oak. Wood’s warmer than cold hard granite, so more forgiving and kinder on your buttock bones."
