Liverpool Christmas Market returned this morning for six weeks of shopping, fun and festive activities. The annual staple sprawls itself across St George's Plateau and William Brown Street with something for all ages to enjoy.

There is a huge selection of food on offer from all over the world. Guests are treated to everything from Yorkshire pudding wraps and siu mai to burgers, bratwurst and gyros.

There are vendors serving sweet treats including chocolate, cakes and candy, with a few savoury stalls available if you prefer a minced pie. Guests can eat their food on site, in one of the ski-huts, or take home some of the hand-made products.

We took a trip down to the markets as they opened today. A highly contentious point of Christmas markets across the country is the cost of food and drink.

Vendors set their own prices and can therefore dictate the total necessary to ensure they make a profit once business costs have been evaluated. Below is how much a bratwurst costs.

Liverpool Christmas Market bratwurst prices 2024

All the bratwurst cost £8 when the ECHO went down to look. There are different types, including bratwurst (original German sausage), Krakauer (lightly smoked sausage), cheese Kasekrainer (cheese stuffed smoked sausage), currywurst (served in a tray with a roll on the side) and a vegan Bockwurst.

How do I get to the Liverpool Christmas Markets?

If you're arriving in Liverpool by train, the markets are a short distance from Liverpool Lime Street, where Northern Rail and national rail services call. There's also a station at Lime Street if you’re coming from or wish to change to Liverpool Central, Moorfields or James Street.

If you’re driving into the city, there's parking nearby at St John's Shopping Centre, the Q-Park at Queen Square and Mount Pleasant Car Park. For sat navs, the address and postcode for St. George's Plateau is St George's Pl, Liverpool L1 1JJ.
