'Much-loved' dad died after falling from bike in North Yorkshire woods
A "much-loved" dad died after falling from his bike in North Yorkshire woods, an inquest heard.
Robert William Fewson Stead, 35, suffered a brain injury after falling from his bike in Kilburn Woods on Saturday, August 24. The Pickering dad - known as Rob - was taken to James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, where he died two days later, reports Yorkshire Live.
Assistant North Yorkshire coroner Richard Watson concluded that Mr Stead died as a result of an 'accident'. He said: "On August 24, 2024, the deceased was riding his bicycle through Kilburn Woods. He fell from his bicycle, struck and head and suffered other serious injuries. He was taken to James Cook University Hospital where he died."

His cause of death was noted as traumatic and hypoxic brain injury. In a funeral notice, his family said that the dad had died "doing what he loved". Mr Stead leaves behind a wife, Lauren, and son, Harry.
The notice described the dad as a much-loved husband and a devoted and loving dad and son. The notice said: "Rob was much loved and will be very sadly missed by all his family and friends."
Donations in his memory were made to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and St Giles Church, Lockton, near Pickering.
