Yahoo News Much loved tea brand opening first Surrey location and is launching an exclusive flavour in the town
There may be several coffee shops in Guildford, but the town is now getting a new tea shop. Bird & Blend tea store will be opening their first Surrey location soon, complete with an exclusive tea flavour.
The Market Street store will contain the independent company's award winning tea flavours ranging from the inventive (Birthday Cake, Strawberry Lemonade and Chocolate Digestives) to firm favourites such as the Builders Breakfast Brew and Earl Grey Crème.
Among the many choices there will be a new option created exclusively for Guildford, called ‘Surrey Hills,’ a green tea packed with English berries to reflect the town’s beautiful countryside surroundings.

As well as its wide range of flavours the store will also have the largest Matcha tea range that can be found in the UK, a selection of tea tools and utensils and its takeaway tea bar. The store will even run its own award-winning Mixology Workshops, where guests can learn all about tea and even blend their own to take home.
When the store opens on Friday, November 22, it will be the company's 24th retail store, following recent openings in Cambridge and another in London’s Covent Garden, and its launch on to the UK high street 11 years ago in 2013.
The Guildford store has created six new jobs and will also donate money to the Guildford Institute which its staff have nominated as its local charity of the quarter. In store fundraising activities will raise funds and 50% of the in store profits of the Surrey Hills blend, will be donated.
Bird & Blend Tea Co. was founded by Krisi Smith and Mike Turner, who met at university. While they started packing tea in their bedrooms the company is now a well known brand and even featured on the Sunday Times Best Places To Work 2024 list. As leading tea innovators they now have a range of over 100 exciting tea flavours by blending ingredients including herbs, flowers, fruits, caramel, chocolate and even cake sprinkles.

At the opening party, on 5th December, guests will be treated to Bird & Blend’s signature Spiced Rum Chai or Strawberry Lemonade Drop on Arrival. The first 50 customers will also receive an exclusive Guildford goody bag and lots of free tea. There will be plenty of seasonal samples for guests to taste, alongside the Guildford store blend, Surrey Hill.
The Bird & Blend Guildford store is on 5 Market Street, Guildford, GU1 4LB. The cut through between the high-street and north street also contains Hotel Chocolat, and Knoops.
