'Much-loved' woman killed in Keighley street named and pictured

A woman who died after being hit by a car in a West Yorkshire street has been named and pictured.

Judith Abbs, 79, was seriously injured after being struck by a blue Nissan Qashqai in Keighley town centre at around 10.39am on Thursday, January 30. Judith, who was a pedestrian at the time, later died in hospital.

In a statement released with her picture by West Yorkshire Police, her family said she was "much-loved and would be greatly missed by her family and friends."

The force is now looing to hear from anyone who saw anything, or who has any CCTV or dashcam footage, who might be able to help with the investigation. Previously, a spokesman said: "Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Keighley town centre yesterday (Thursday, January 30).

"Officers were called to A629 North Street where it was reported a female pedestrian was in collision with a blue Nissan Qashqai at 10.39am. The car had been travelling away from Cavendish Street towards the town centre.

"The woman, aged in her 70s, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where she sadly died. The driver of the Qashqai stopped at the scene.

"The road was closed while investigations were carried out and was reopened yesterday evening. Officers from the Major Collision and Enquiry Team (MCET) would like to speak to any witnesses who have not already been in contact with police, as well as anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage which might have captured the collision."
