A MUCH-LOVED woman has knitted a new postbox topper in protest of all the roadworks in Leigh.

Leigh resident Linda Catling is well-known for her handmade creative postbox hats, usually creating a new design each month.

This week she has made a “Mr Mole and Mr Vole Construction” themed topper to help encourage construction in the area to speed up.

It took two weeks for Linda to make this, and she hopes it will speed things along.

The topper is located along Marine Parade.

Linda said: “This is a little protest of all the roadworks going on at the moment across Leigh.

“Mr Mole and Mr Vole construction have come along to give a helping hand and speed things along.

“Also it is half-term so it is an interesting one for the children with all the little construction toys.

“We are all so fed up with all the diversions so I thought it would be fun to do a gentle protest and send them some help from Mr Mole and Mr Vole.”
