Muddy torrent cascades down road during floods killing at least 36 in Peru

A landslide triggered by heavy rain killed at least 36 people in southern Peru on Monday. Footage shows a flash flood gushing down a road in the Secocha sector of Camana province in the Arequipa department on February 6. Local media reported that at least 36 were killed in the landslides, including five that died after their van was swept into a river by the floods. Officials said some 2,000 families had been affected and 630 homes had been destroyed as they send in heavy machinery to clear debris blocking important roads.
