Many left-leaning Islingtonians like Jeremy Corbyn are advocates of recycling.

However, it appears that Boris Johnson is also partial to the practice.

The Foreign Secretary made headlines when he called the Labour leader a "mutton-headed mugwump", and many thought the insult was creative and typical of Mr Johnson's playful wit.

However, it appears Mr Johnson's insult was not all that original - he was labelled a mugwump by someone in his own political  party just last year.

During the EU referendum, Sir Nicholas Soames expressed his displeasure with Mr Johnson.

He tweeted: "It's been a long day but of one thing I am sure @BorisJohnson has really bogged it and showed himself up as an ocean going clot #MugWump"

Did Boris Johnson borrow this insult to use against Jeremy Corbyn?

In the Sun, he claimed the electorate should not be fooled by Corbyn’s “meandering and nonsensical questions”.

He said: “They say to themselves: he may be a mutton-headed old mugwump, but he is probably harmless."

After drawing criticism, Mr Johnson defended his comments, telling Good Morning Britain: "people don't know what a threat he really is!".
