A new multi-sensory experience for all ages is coming to Cabot Circus this year. Situated in the Friary Building in Quakers Friars, Lumosphere is described as a 45-minute multi-sensory experience where visitors can 'wander, wonder and immerse themselves in every creation'.

Lumosphere will open its doors to the public on July 26 and runs up until August 16. The experience is suitable for all ages. Tickets are on sale now, for more information visit

Up until recently, restaurant Sonny Stores used the building to host a pop-up version of their popular eatery and, prior to that, it was the home of German-inspired restaurant Klosterhaus. It was also the Brasserie Blanc restaurant before that.

A version of Lumosphere opened at The Stables at Leigh Court where, in 2023, it put on its very own experience following a number of appearances at light trails and immersive installations over the years. These include Bristol Light Festival, GLOW and Westonbirt Enchanted Christmas.

Lumosphere is the creation from PYTCH, a live event production company with the South West's first ever permanent virtual production studio. According to PYTCH's portfolio, The Lumosphere is PYTCH's very first 'fully conceptualised, designed and self-hosted installation'.

Though not much has been revealed about how Lumosphere will work in its new venue, the previous edition - which was open throughout the winter months - consisted of a multitude of installations, split into areas that included a tunnel, microbiology garden, play area, climatology capsule, ambisonics chamber, and more. These were:

  • Beginnings - "An ethereal tunnel that transports you from our world into that of The Lumosphere."

  • Life - "A microbiology garden that is no ordinary garden, but a living work of art. Witness the miniscule building blocks of all life in the midst of winter's chill."

  • Discovery - "A room destined for discovery, use all of your senses, interact and play with your environment and explore the world around you."

  • Change - "Become fully encapsulated in a dynamic and ever evolving videoscape of nature and weather. As time changes, so do the sights, sounds and scents."

  • Connection - "You must work in harmony with one another. Your different experiences become shared as you engage with the physical world between you."

  • Growth - "Enter a sonic landscape like you have never heard before, as the soundscape embodying you develops and grows.

  • Rebirth - "Your journey has come full circle. Everything you have experienced is met in a sensory crescendo and you are taken back to reality."
