Multi-vehicle crash on Glasgow M8 as emergency services race to scene

Commuters were faced with travel chaos on Friday morning rush hour after a 'multi-vehicle' crash on the M8 in Glasgow.

Officers from Police Scotland and paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service raced to the busy motorway after the alarm was raised at around 7am.

Lanes one and two near Junction 15 (Townhead Interchange) Westbound were affected, however traffic has returned to normal following the smash.

Ambulances and police were in attendance and have been contacted for comment. The condition of the drivers involved is currently unknown at this stage.

A spokesperson for the SAS said: “We received a call at 07:15 today to attend a road traffic collision on the M8, Junction 15. We dispatched two ambulances to the scene and one patient was transported to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.”

A travel update posted to social media by Traffic Scotland reads: "CLEAR 08:59. "#M8 Junction 15 Traffic now returning to normal on the Westbound carriageway following the earlier collision at Junction 15".
