'Multiple' people on motorbike before Stoke-on-Trent crash left man in hospital

Police believe more than one person was on a motorbike that was involved in a crash with a car in Stoke-on-Trent. Officers have also revealed that that the motorcycle was wheeled away by a 'number of men' following the collision with a red Kia Venga on Birches Head Road in Birches Head on Sunday evening (November 24).

Emergency services had been scrambled to the scene following the smash, which happened near the junction with Geneva Roadat around 8pm. A man, who was on the motorbike, suffered injuries at the scene and was taken to hospital.

The driver of the Kia was reported for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "We were called to Birches Head Road in Birches Head, at about 8pm on Sunday (November 24) following reports of a collision involved a red Kia Venga and a motorbike.

"It is reported that more than one person may have been riding the motorbike at the time of the collision. A man, who was on the motorbike, suffered injuries at the scene and was taken to hospital by paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service.

"A number of men pushed the motorbike away from the scene shortly after it happened. The driver of the Kia was reported for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. Recovery for the Kia was arranged."

An ambulance service spokesman said: "We were called to reports of a collision involving a car and a motorbike on Birches Head Road. We treated the motorcyclist, a man, who had sustained serious injuries. He was conveyed on blue lights to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for further emergency care."
