Multiple People Reported Dead as Intense Flooding Hits Central Italy

At least six people were killed and three were missing after heavy rain brought intense flooding to central Italy, according to local media reports citing authorities.

This footage, filmed by Stefano Bartolucci, shows water flooding the streets of Senigallia, in Italy’s Marche region, early on the morning of Friday, September 16.

The Misa river, which runs through the town of Senigallia reached its peak early on Friday morning, and began slowly receding, the Municipality of Senigallia said.

An orange alert issued on Thursday remained in place for parts of central and southern Italy on Friday, including the Campania and Lazio regions, as rain and strong winds were expected to continue through to the afternoon. Credit: Stefano Bartolucci via Storyful
